Catweazle (1970) All Seasons

Catweazle is a British television series, created and written by Richard Carpenter which was produced and directed by Quentin Lawrence for London Weekend Television under the LWI banner, and screened in the UK on ITV in 1970. A second season in 1971 was directed by David Reid and David Lane. Both series had thirteen episodes each, with Geoffrey Bayldon playing the leading role. The series was broadcast in Ireland, Britain, Gibraltar, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Czechoslovakia, Nicaragua and Quebec. Created by Richard Carpenter. With Geoffrey Bayldon, Robin Davies, Gary Warren, Charles 'Bud' Tingwell. Catweazle is a magician from the time of the Normans who is cast into the future by magic. With the help of two boys he uses magic in an attempt to return to his own time.

Series One, episode one 11th century, England: Deep in the heart of the English countryside, magician Catweazle finds himself cornered by Norman soldiers. Calling upon his dubious magical powers, Catweazle leaps into a lake to escape his pursuers, but inadvertently ends up travelling nine hundred years through time and into the twentieth century.

Directed by David Lane. With Geoffrey Bayldon, Gary Warren, Moray Watson, Peter Butterworth. Lord Collingford is considering selling King's Farthing along with Duck Halt (which is Catweazle's home) to a property tycoon. When Catweazle hears about this he sets about finding a Wogle Stone as "No man can build where stands the Wogle Stone".
